Guest Pre-Production Brief

Before we sit down, here’s everything you need to know.

You were hand-picked for this. Every guest on Open Residency is a deliberate choice; we don’t book to fill a calendar, we book because we believe your perspective is one our audience needs to hear.

Open Residency is a media platform for operators. Every episode is a case study; we go deep on how people actually built things. The real version, not some LinkedIn post.

This brief covers what we’re building together, what we need from you, and what shoot day looks like. Please read through it, and you or your team can reach out to Noah with any questions. Come ready to go deep.

— Mark

What We Need From You

Launch Day

The First Hour Matters Most

  • Post across every active channel

  • Use the assets from your rollout page

  • Tag @openresidency @markbrazil so we can amplify on both channels

Post-Launch

3 Posts Over The Following Week

  • Clips, quotes, or photos from your rollout page

  • The content is already produced, just need you to post it!

  • If some platforms aren’t your thing, tell us upfront

Shoot Day

Format

  • 1–4 hour conversation (We are wide open here and respect your time.)
  • No scripts — topic areas sent in advance
  • We go past the surface

Setup

  • Camera, lighting, sound all handled
  • For your outfit, solid colors work best on camera (recommended, but be yourself)
  • Arrive 10–15 minutes early

What Lands

  • Revealing something new — a product, partnership, revenue milestone, raise, or anything you haven’t said publicly yet
  • Honest moments over highlight reels
  • Principles and frameworks backed by real case studies
  • Signature lists and rules (ex: “My 3 hiring rules”)

Before Shoot Day

Prepare you/team to post on launch day within the first hour

Flagged any platforms I won’t be posting on

Committed to 3 follow-up posts the week after launch

Reviewed the topic areas with material ready

Confirmed wardrobe and arrival time

A Few More Things

Episode Release

We hold a high bar. Release decisions are based on conversation quality, audience fit, and distribution commitment. We’ve only held two episodes in the history of the show.

If there’s ever a concern, you’ll hear it directly from us. We treat every guest as a partner.

Content Usage

Everything we build is yours to use, organic or paid. Tag us on organic posts. No tag needed on paid. (Optimize for performance!)

One rule: do not share episode content with third-party brands for whitelisting without our consent. If a brand wants it, send them to us.
